Grow a candle business from a basement to the world

UNITS is a warehouse tycoon game. You start alone in a basement pouring candles. Five chapters later you're routing orders between two buildings, booking containers and running a 3PL in Europe.

Every morning you plan the day: hire, order stock, build racks and packing tables, bring in temps, approve overtime, lease another bay. Then the day runs. Your crew picks, packs, ships and puts away, and the phone keeps ringing. There's a 10am call, decisions at noon and a 3pm last push before the trucks leave.

Five chapters

  1. The Basement. A tutorial, and just you.
  2. The Garage. Your first hires, racks and a packing table.
  3. The Warehouse. Three scents, racks slotted by scent, purchase orders.
  4. Two Warehouses. East and West, routing orders between buildings, split view.
  5. Going Global. Containers, a 3PL in Europe, and finally The Ledger.

Each chapter ends in a graded set piece: a gift-guide feature, The Big Unboxing (a creator livestream), a coast-to-coast sale and finally Prime Day, the two-day finale.

Things go wrong

Rushes, recalls, power cuts and a rival brand called Wick Wick Boom. You'll also face business decisions about contracts, promos, a boutique and a creator feature.

The stuff real warehouses fight with

  • Trust. The labels on your shelves drift away from what's really on them, and your crew slows down until you do a count.
  • Receiving jams. Trucks don't wait for you to have room.
  • Walk distance. Where you put the racks decides how far everyone walks to the packing tables.
  • Forecasting. Order too little and you run out. Order too much and the dock fills up.
  • Policies. Automate the chores (Restock, Hire to keep up, Add a rack) once you've done them by hand.

Minigames

Garage Sweep, Returns Desk, Count Day, Dock Duty, Pour Night, Customs Desk, Trade Show and Farmers Market.

Also

  • The Daily Wick, an in-game newspaper
  • Daily challenges
  • Relaxed, Standard and Hard modes
  • Sandbox and Scenarios
  • Chapter grades and an ending card

A full run takes roughly an hour or two on Relaxed. It plays on desktop and phone and saves in your browser. There's no signup.

Why a warehouse game?

I run sku.io, an inventory and order management company. I've spent years on calls with people who run warehouses, and the same stories kept coming up: the count that's wrong right before a big sale, the dock that's full the day the container lands, the last push at 3pm. This game is those stories with the stakes turned down to candles.

Feedback is very welcome. Leave a comment and I read them all.
